Potluck & Poison Ivy: An Evening with Joe David Rice - 7 pm - $35
Potluck and Poison Ivy is a live dinner and storytelling event in Argenta, Arkansas that invites you to bring your story to the table by sharing a meal and some good ole Southern storytelling. It’s a potluck of people, themes, and ways to tell a story, served with a hearty helping of laughter, Southern exaggerations, and even some unexpected poison ivy. Whether it’s scripted, unscripted, or an open mic storytelling casserole, this is one picnic you don’t want to miss.
Taking advantage of his vast knowledge of the state, Rice has produced Arkansas Backstories, a two-volume book exploring the state’s lesser-known aspects. Few Arkansans realize the state produced a challenger to John F. Kennedy in the race for the Democrat Party’s Presidential nominee in 1960 or that the first African-American to run for President was a native of Little Rock. Or that Arkansas hosted the world’s first UFO conference way back in 1975. These and other fascinating tidbits make Arkansas Backstories a must for residents and ex-pats alike.
Doors open at 6 pm. Showtime is 7pm
$35 for dinner and show. Drinks are not included
