The Main Thing
The Main Thing
Arkansas’ number one professional comedy team, The Main Thing, stars veteran performers whose work has been featured on Saturday Night Live, Off-Broadway, on Dick Clark’s United Radio Network, and in thousands of live stage performances all around the country.
What is The Main Thing, you ask? Well, it’s not the first time we’ve heard that question. The Main Thing: three people doing multiple comic characters and playing multiple musical instruments. It’s the singing Fertle family; it’s Arkansas satire. It’s sketch comedy and full length plays. It’s controlled chaos. It’s hard to characterize. Many times we hear audience members say, “We were here last month, and we came back tonight and brought friends with us. We tried to describe The Main Thing to them, but they just looked at us. You can’t describe it. You just have to see it.”
Their current home is The Joint Comedy Theater in the trendy Argenta Arts District in downtown North Little Rock, where they perform original two-act comedy shows every Friday and Saturday night.
Steve Farrell's writing has been featured on Saturday Night Live, Off-Broadway, on HBO, and for ten years was syndicated nationally by Dick Clark’s United Stations Radio Network. Steve was the head writer and Artistic Director of Houston’s Comedy Workshop, and the co- founder of Radio Music Theatre which produced his original plays for 27 years. Currently, Steve is the writer, composer, and Artistic Director for The Main Thing comedy trio.
Vicki Farrell began her acting career with The Showboat Rhododendron on the Mississippi River. After performing with Michigan’s Barn Theatre and teaching dance in Minneapolis, she became a charter member of The Comedy Workshop in Houston, and the co-founder of Radio Music Theatre, where she performed weekly from 1984 – 2011. Vicki currently performs as an actor and drummer with The Main Thing comedy trio.
Brett Ihler has performed with theater companies across the country, including The Utah Shakespearean Festival, Blue Jacket, and the Arkansas Shakespeare Theater. Brett is also an expert in stage combat, regularly choreographing shows for numerous regional theaters. He was a charter member of Improv Little Rock, and he now directs The Joint Venture improv company. Brett performs weekly at The Joint with The Main Thing comedy trio

The Main Thing comedy shows on Friday and Saturday evenings are hysterical! I love that you can reserve a seat now, and the full-bar is amazing! This is our "go to" place when we want to have a fun evening out with friends, or for a date night!
This intimate venue hosts performances by The Main Thing, a comedy troupe of three actors/musicians who present a couple dozen characters in two acts of side-splitting humor
We haven't missed a show since its opening in North Little Rock. A great place for a really fun evening. I think each show gets better than the one before!
We had the very best time! Everyone was so friendly! The coffee bar and drinks were good and the show itself was WAY better than we hoped for!
